Shannen James is a Melbourne-born singer-songwriter known for her effortlessly nostalgic indie pop, laced with a refreshing touch of country flair. Since her debut single Something In the Water (2019) from her first EP Arrows, Shannen has garnered over 6.5 million Spotify streams across her catalogue. With three chart-topping tracks on triple j’s Most Played list (Arrows, Superstitious, Get Go), she released her debut album Patchwork in February 2024.

Celebrated for her earworm melodies and strikingly relatable lyrics, Shannen’s music continues to resonate—on her 2024 Australian album tour, where she played to packed rooms in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Backed by a full band, the live show brought the expansive yet intimate emotion of Patchwork to life. Ramona Mag described the album as “a sun-soaked expanse of acoustic nostalgia and shimmering pop anthems.”

Despite years of performing, Shannen still brings the spark of a rising star. She’s supported some of Australia’s finest—G Flip, Slowly Slowly, Something For Kate, Thelma Plum, and Sycco—as well as international acts like Texas, Valley, Upsahl, Bic Runga, and Men I Trust. Her passion for live performance took her overseas in 2023 with shows across London, Cornwall, Dublin, and Belfast presented by Communion Music (founded by Ben Lovett of Momford and Sons).

Most recently, Shannen joined the Jonas Brothers in Melbourne for a surprise collaboration—performing and recording their early track Fly With Me. The moment was sparked by her viral TikTok cover, which led to the interaction and has since racked up over 1.4 million views on Reels and 1 million on the Jonas Brothers' TikTok.
